A charming antique Victorian Mauchline Ware sycamore wood trinket box, sourced directly from Ardingly Antiques Fair. The hinged lid features a beautifully preserved, detailed monochrome photographic transfer scene titled "Derwentwater from Castle Hill," celebrating the iconic Lake District landscape.
Manufactured in Ayrshire, Scotland, during the late 19th century, this traditional piece of British treen retains its original, untouched honey-toned amber finish and historic patina. The rectangular box is fitted with a decorative antique brass swing clasp at the front.
It is in excellent antique condition with a smooth, aged finish. The transfer print remains remarkably crisp and legible with only minimal historic handling wear. The interior is clean, and the hinge operates smoothly. A lovely, highly collectible example of Victorian tourist ware that serves as a beautiful ring box or vanity accent. Please see the listing photographs with the visible ruler for exact scale.
