Antique Goodwins Ltd Sheffield Silver Plated Toast Rack - 4-Slot Wave Edge Letter Rack (c.1910)

An exceptionally stylish antique English silver-plated (EPNS) 4-slot toast rack manufactured by the respected Sheffield silversmithing firm Goodwins, Ltd. Dating to the late Victorian or early Edwardian era, this distinctive piece showcases five elegant cathedral-style arched dividing bars rising from a beautifully designed open base plate featuring unique, scalloped-wave lower borders. It is crowned with a striking, geometric triangular shield central handle and stands firmly on integrated corner bracket feet. Its robust weight and design make it a highly commercial, functional desk organizer for letters, cards, or luxury stationery.

The underside of the base frame is deeply stamped with the firm's classic diamond-shaped "GE" maker's hallmark alongside the individual design production reference number 21528.

Condition Report:
This rack is in very good antique structural condition and retains a gorgeous, high-shine silver mirror luster. True to its authentic age and domestic history, the piece displays typical light surface micro-scratches from historical handling and cleaning, alongside a small, localized area of minor dark tarnish and pitting on the inner base corner (clearly highlighted with the pen in the close-up photographs). The frame is perfectly straight, all joints remain entirely solid, and it sits completely level.
