There is an unmistakable, unpretentious integrity to objects salvaged directly from the rural landscape. Sourced directly from a property clearance, this late 19th-century chamberstick was recovered from an abandoned farmhouse in rural France. Entirely untouched by modern reproduction hands, it carries the quiet, moving gravity of an object that guided generations through dark stone corridors before rural electrification.

Nickel Plated, the candle holder is stamped on the thumb-lever with the classic French patent mark: Brevetée S.G.D.G. This historical legal label protected the inventor's design under a historic 1844 French decree.

Featuring a wonderfully functional, scrolled finger ring and a beaded sconce rim to catch stray wax, it possesses a matte, silver-grey pewter-like patina. It is a deeply atmospheric piece, perfect for anchoring a bedside table, a stack of vintage books, or an open kitchen shelf.

Condition Report:
Presented in entirely honest, un-restored condition. Having spent decades in an agricultural setting, the nickel tray surface exhibits a scattering of historic green verdigris spots, shallow handling scratches, and dark pitting as clearly shown in the detail photography. We have chosen to leave this surface completely intact exactly as found to preserve its farmhouse provenance. The riveted handle remains structurally sound and entirely rigid.
