There is a distinct, unpretentious beauty to antique culinary tools that prioritize hard work over pristine aesthetics. Hailing from the same 19th-century French estate batch as its larger counterparts, this copper sauté pan (or sauteuse) is an exceptionally charming example of period French copperware.
The pan is fitted with a rugged, hand-forged iron handle secured by three heavy copper rivets, ending in the traditional teardrop hanging loop. A highly notable feature of this piece is the visible historic tin overspill running along the upper exterior rim. This is a marvelous testament to its working life, showing where a traditional coppersmith or kitchen servant hand-applied a fresh layer of protective tin over an open fire, leaving an authentic, tactile signature on the copper face.
Beautifully patinated and perfectly scaled for smaller spaces, it makes a splendid, highly authentic decorative accent for a modern rustic pot rack or country kitchen.

In solid, stable antique condition throughout. The copper body exhibits a few superficial dings, shallow handling dents, and a rich, uneven patina that gives it immense visual character. The interior tin lining shows substantial age-related wear, darkening, and minor historic scaling, with the aforementioned overspill visible on the front exterior rim. The heavy forged iron handle is completely rigid and structurally secure.
