Vintage Sheffield Silver Plated on Copper Engraved Drinks Tray - Gadroon Rim Salver

This fine vintage circular drinks tray (11" diameter) is a classic piece of British craftsmanship, showcasing a beautiful traditional aesthetic. Sourced at the prestigious Ardingly Antiques Fair, this elegant platter was manufactured in the historic metalworking city of Sheffield, England.

The face of the tray is decorated with a deeply chased, elaborate scrolling foliage and plume pattern surrounding a central unengraved cartouche. The perimeter is finished with an elegant, tightly raised gadroon border that gives the rim an attractive textured edge. The reverse is stamped with the authentic, clear stacked regional mark reading: "Silver Plate on Copper, Made in Sheffield, England" alongside a boxed size number "11".

The tray presents in nice vintage condition with a wonderfully warm, reflective glow. Reflecting its genuine history as a utilitarian dining piece, the centre of the tray displays some honest historic "cut marks" where a knife has previously been used across the face. Additionally, there is a touch of light, attractive copper show-through nestled within the deeper recesses of the central engraving, which creates a highly desirable patina and adds depth to the design. It remains structurally flat, perfectly rigid, and ready for use.
