An authentic vintage West German pottery jug vase, sourced directly from Detling Antiques Fair. Handcrafted by the notable manufacturer Scheurich during the mid-century era, the base features the clearly impressed model number "401-20" alongside the genuine "W. Germany" stamp.
This classic handled pitcher form showcases a striking three-tiered gradient glaze. It transitions seamlessly from rich terracotta orange at the rim and single integrated loop handle, down through a heavily textured, speckled sand-beige central band, and finishes with a solid terracotta base. The volcanic, tactile texture of the central band offers the perfect contrast to the smoother finished elements, epitomising the experimental spirit of retro West German art ceramics.
It is in excellent vintage condition with an immaculate finish, displaying absolutely no chips, cracks, or restoration. A highly decorative and collectible piece of mid-century modern design that adds instant retro character to an interior shelving display or sideboard.
