Vintage Scheurich 242-22 West German Pottery Vase - Mid-Century Orange & Cream Banded Ceramic
£34.95
An eye-catching vintage West German pottery art ceramic vase, sourced directly from Detling Antiques Fair. Handcrafted by the notable manufacturer Scheurich during the mid-century era, the base features the clearly impressed model number "242-22" alongside the genuine "W. Germany" stamp.
This iconic cylindrical form features a vibrant, high-contrast banded glaze. A bold, glossy mid-century tangerine orange central band is framed perfectly by foaming, dark volcanic espresso borders, all set against a heavily speckled, matte cream-beige background. It is a quintessential example of space-age retro styling.
It is in very good vintage condition with a bright, impactful finish. True to handmade studio pottery of this era, there is a minor manufacturing firing flaw on the upper cream band (indicated in the photographs). This is a smooth, glaze-covered indentation that occurred prior to the kiln firing rather than a post-production chip or damage. There are no actual cracks, chips, or restorations. Please see the listing photographs with the visible ruler for exact scale.
