Vintage Poole Pottery "Volcano" Living Glaze Squat Bud Vase - Light Blue Interior

This striking vintage ceramic bud vase is a wonderful addition to any British art pottery collection. Sourced at the Sunbury Antiques Market, this is the final piece of our Poole trio, featuring a distinctively low, squat bulbous profile that sets it apart from more traditional globular shapes.

The exterior showcases the dramatic, high-contrast "Volcano" design created via Poole's reactive Living Glaze technique. Fiery red slip wraps around the body, accented by bold bursts of textured volcanic black, orange, and vibrant turquoise patches. A beautiful design detail is the contrasting smooth, opaque light blue glazed interior, which frames the rim beautifully. The base bears a different style Poole backstamp covered by a clear metallic gold foil dolphin emblem sticker, indicating a slightly later production run from the Poole Quay studio in Dorset before manufacturing shifted.

The vase is in excellent vintage condition, entirely free from chips, cracks, or restorations. It displays a delicate web of light, clean surface crazing throughout the high-gloss glaze, as is typical and expected with British earthenware of this period.
