Vintage Italian Florentine Rectangular Serving Tray - Mid-Century Gold Gilt & Crimson Red Tureen Stand
A magnificent mid-century modern vintage Italian Florentine rectangular wooden serving tray, manufactured in Italy during the 1960s. This striking piece showcases a beautifully scrolled, shaped rim with elegant integrated end handles decorated in a crisp cross-hatch basketweave design. The face of the tray is heavily adorned with deeply embossed baroque-revival gold leaf scrollwork, framed by a brilliant, glossy crimson-red border band. The central field features an intricate arrangement of repeating fleur-de-lis motifs and geometric diamond emblems highlighted in cream and crimson paint tones. It makes a stunning statement piece for a drinks trolley, vanity display, or serving as a traditional tureen stand.
The reverse retains the classic lightweight, unlacquered natural wood grain common to authentic Tuscan art workshops of this era.
Condition Report:
This tray is in excellent vintage structural condition with no cracks or splits to the wood. True to its age and authentic handmade production method, the surface exhibits minor cosmetic signs of handling and light wear. There is some minor, honest gesso plaster show-through along the raised edges and corners where the gold gilding has worn over the decades, giving it a wonderfully authentic and curated period patina. Please examine the detailed photos to fully appreciate the design and finish.
