Vintage F.B. Rogers Silver Plate Repoussé Fruit Bowl or Tazza

While we might playfully debate the fluid boundary between a fruit bowl and a low-slung tazza, there is no ambiguity regarding the decorative intent of this piece. This vintage silver-plated bowl features an incredibly dense, deeply embossed repoussé border of trailing spring blossoms and foliage that frames the central well to rather dramatic effect.
The underside bears the crisp stamp of the F.B. Rogers Silver Company, an American maker originally established in Massachusetts in 1883. Remarkably, this piece retains both its original red paper trade sticker and its small round inspection label on the base, indicating it spent far more of its life tucked safely away in a sideboard than being subjected to the rigors of the kitchen sink.

Honest Anatomy:
The silver plate remains bright, clean, and highly reflective throughout. In terms of condition, there are a few very fine, sparse pinprick black pitting marks within the polished flat of the interior well, entirely consistent with light historical use. The heavily decorated rim is free from any squashes, dents, or losses to the definition of the floral molding. It sits perfectly flat and solid on the table.
