This is an exceptional example of mid-century modern (MCM) commercial art pottery. This large floor vase was produced by the world-famous Scheurich Keramik in West Germany during the 1960s/70s.


Design & Aesthetics:

  • Model Number: 268-40 (Impressed on base: "268-40 W. GERMANY").
  • Decor: Features the highly sought-after "Tundra" pattern, characterized by five relief-banded geometric sections.
  • Glaze: A beautiful, glossy earth-tone palette featuring rich chocolate brown, warm ochre, and mustard tones with a subtle speckled finish.
  • Form: A classic, sturdy cylindrical body with a flared rim, making it a perfect statement piece for a hallway or living room corner.

Condition:


Very Good vintage condition. No cracks, chips, or repairs. The glaze remains vibrant with a lovely sheen. As is common with West German pottery of this era, there may be very minor factory glazing variations that add to its unique character. There are some minor rubbing marks close to the base from general wear and tear, these are shown in the pictures
