Antique William Hutton & Sons Silver Plate Chamberstick Crested Candle Holder
£59.95
An exceptional late 19th-century Victorian silver-plated chamberstick (dumble candle holder) complete with its original detachable conical snuffer. This heavy-gauge piece features a beautifully proportioned circular drip pan tray with an integrated reeded thumbpiece handle. The thumb rest is finely engraved with a crisp heraldic family crest depicting a sejant lion rampant on a torse.
The base bears the complete hallmark configuration "WH & S BP" inside individual cartouches, alongside the distinctive crossed arrows trade stamp, attributing the piece directly to the celebrated Sheffield silversmiths William Hutton & Sons (British Plate). Sourced directly from the prestigious Ardingly Antiques Fair, this classic piece provides authentic English country house provenance for decorators and metalware collectors alike.
Presented in excellent antique condition with a highly reflective mirrored surface. The silver plate finish is robust across all components, showing only light surface polishing scratches, minor historic scuffs, and gentle character wear underneath consistent with a genuine, functional period piece of lighting. The conical snuffer seats correctly, and the candle socket remains perfectly aligned.
