Antique Mauchline Ware Sycamore Dome Top String Box - Established Church Lauder c.1890
£24.95
A highly collectible antique late-Victorian Mauchline Ware sycamore wood string box, sourced directly from Ardingly Antiques Fair. The distinct dome-top lid features a beautifully detailed oval monochrome photographic transfer scene titled "Established Church, Lauder," depicting the historic parish church in the Scottish Borders.
This traditional piece of British treen features a classic two-piece, lift-off lid design rather than a hinge, and retains its original small jute rope handles at the sides. It remains in its original, untouched condition with a smooth, warm honey-toned amber patina.
The box is in very good antique condition. The transfer print is crisp, clear, and perfectly legible with only minimal age-related handling wear. The interior is clean, and the two pieces fit together securely. A wonderful, functional piece of antique Scottish tourist ware that is perfect for a sewing room collector or unique desk organizer.
