Antique Hawksworth Eyre & Co Sheffield Silver Plated Chamberstick with Matching Stamped Snuffer (c.1900)

An exceptionally rare and prestigious antique English silver-plated (EPNS) chamberstick candle holder, manufactured by the top-tier Sheffield silversmiths Hawksworth, Eyre & Co. This highly collectible Edwardian-era set is a true survival piece, remaining completely intact with its original matching conical snuffer. The chamberstick features a wide, dished drip pan base with a traditional crisp beaded border, a robust central column sconce with a matching beaded nozzle, and an elegant scrolling thumbpiece handle.
Crucially, both the underside of the main chamberstick base and the lower rim of the matching conical snuffer are deeply and crisply struck with identical workshop pseudo-hallmarks: the "HE & Co" maker's cartouche, a series of heraldic design shields, and the "EP" grade mark.
Condition Report:
This chamberstick set is in excellent antique structural condition with no splits or dents to the metalwork. The candle socket is perfectly aligned, the snuffer fits securely onto its integrated side bracket, and the finger loop remains rock-solid. Reflecting a century of domestic cleaning and use, the silver plating has thinned significantly across the main pan, column, and snuffer, beautifully exposing the warm, golden-brass base alloy underneath. This uniform, time-worn patina provides a magnificent "shabby chic" country house character that cannot be replicated by modern reproductions.
Provenance:
Sourced at Sunbury Antiques Market.
