Antique Barker Brothers Silver Plate Lidded Entree Dish Gadroon Rim 4699
£39.95
An elegant antique silver-plated rectangular entree serving dish featuring a deep gadrooned perimeter and an matching gadroon border accenting the lid. This multi-functional piece is built with integrated cast loop handles on either end of the base tray, providing an exceptionally stable design.
The underside of the base features the distinctive "pseudo-hallmark" configuration containing five individual gothic-style shield punches, positioned directly above the design pattern reference number 4699. These specific stamps identify the piece as fine late 19th-century / early Edwardian electroplate by the famous Birmingham silversmiths Barker Brothers (later Barker Ellis). Sourced directly from the Ardingly Antiques Fair, it carries excellent provenance and traditional English country house styling.
The piece is presented in good professional grading condition. The thick, historic silver plate finish retains a brilliant luster across the primary surfaces. The interior and exterior display minor cosmetic surface character scuffs and light tarnish in the tight gadrooned recesses, entirely consistent with a genuine, functional period piece of tableware.
