A superior example of a late 18th to early 19th-century "Town" copper kettle, likely Georgian (c.1780-1830). This is a piece of exceptional craftsmanship, far exceeding the quality of standard "country" or mass-produced Victorian kettles.

Construction & Fine Details:

  • Fine Hand-Cut Dovetails: Features incredibly neat, non-uniform "cramped" seams on both the body and the base. Unlike the crude, large dovetails often seen, these are tight and precise—a hallmark of a skilled urban coppersmith.
  • Maker's Evidence: The base features a clear center compass mark , proving the piece was hand-scribed and cut from a flat copper sheet rather than machine-stamped.
  • Design: Classic "swan neck" spout and a heavy-duty, shaped loop handle. The lid features a traditional brass finial.
  • Condition: Recently cleaned from a deep black tarnish to reveal the stunning original joinery. The copper has a beautiful, authentic glow. Note: There is some minor, honest age-related wear to the spout consistent with 200 years of use, adding to its character.
