Antique Solid Brass Novelty Lion Head Split-Handle Nutcracker - Victorian Style Barware Accessory
£24.95
A highly charismatic and heavy vintage solid brass novelty split-handle nutcracker, cast in the distinct form of a stylised lion. This tactile piece features two beautifully detailed, mirrored lion faces that meet to form the crushing jaws, while the split lever handles are realistically modelled as the creature's forelegs, terminating in detailed paws/pads at the base. The heavy, polished brass construction catches the light beautifully, making it an excellent decorative addition to an autumn home bar, holiday nut bowl display, or vintage bar cart setup.
One of the interior legs features a hand-stamped or lightly hand-engraved historic owner inscription or old inventory sequence that adds a wonderful layer of genuine domestic heritage to the piece.
Condition Report:
The nutcracker is in excellent vintage structural and mechanical condition with a strong, smooth hinge action that opens and closes perfectly. The solid brass retains a wonderful, bright golden lustre with a rich, uncleaned dark patina remaining in the deep recesses of the lion's mane, face, and leg definition. It shows only very minor handling scuffs and tiny micro-scratches consistent with honest historical kitchen or bar use.
