This mid-century silver-plated card tray—crafted by the celebrated Sheffield silversmiths Viners—is a wonderfully elegant, tactile solution to modern pocket clutter.

Struck from their premium "Alpha Plate" line, the tray features a beautifully executed fluted and scalloped border that catches the light remarkably well. The central reservoir is delicately chased with a swirling scrollwork frame. Historically intended for a butler to present calling cards or letters on a silver salver, its compact seven-inch scale makes it a thoroughly civilized modern accent for holding jewelry on a dressing table, hosting daily rings, or organizing keys on a console table.
It carries that reassuring, genuine Sheffield weight that immediately distinguishes it from lightweight modern reproduction tinware.

Condition Report:
In very smart, honest vintage condition throughout. The premium silver plating remains exceptionally bright across the face and fluted borders, showing only very light, superficial cleaning swirls and minor surface handling marks consistent with age. There is no operationally problematic base-metal bleed, lifting, or dark pitting. The reverse carries its original matte finish and is cleanly stamped with the full Viners of Sheffield Alpha Plate corporate markings.

Dimensions

• Diameter: Approx 7.1 inches (18 cm)

https://aniceoldthing.com/products/vintage-viners-of-sheffield-alpha-plate-scalloped-card-tray-trinket-dish
