This compact piece features a beautifully scrolled, scalloped rim and is decorated in the classic baroque-revival style. The surface is heavily gilded with a deeply embossed gold leaf scrollwork pattern, accented by a central ornate circular medallion and subtle cream-colored painted undertones. Its dainty, petite size makes it a highly versatile styling piece, perfect for acting as a bedroom trinket or jewelry dish, an elegant candle plate, or a compact addition to a vanity table display.
The reverse features the classic lightweight, unlacquered natural wood grain common to authentic Tuscan art workshops of this era.

Condition Report:
This tray is in good vintage structural condition with no cracks or splits to the wood. As an authentic pre-owned mid-century item that has seen decades of honest domestic use, the finish exhibits a heavily weathered, authentic character. There is noticeable surface rubbing and wide areas of white gesso plaster show-through, particularly along the raised inner sections, outer scalloped ridges, and corners where the gold gilding has naturally thinned over time. This heavy wear creates an excellent, highly desirable time-worn patina. Please examine the detailed photographs to fully appreciate its vintage finish.

Provenance:
Sourced at Sunbury Antiques Market.

https://aniceoldthing.com/products/vintage-italian-florentine-small-rectangular-serving-tray-mid-century-gold-gilt-trinket-platter
