Manufactured in Italy during the 1960s, this iconic tray features a beautifully scalloped, raised rim and is decorated in the traditional baroque-revival style. The surface displays an intricate, deeply embossed gilded floral scrollwork pattern accented by a striking warm orange border band and a central geometric cartouche highlighted with vibrant turquoise-blue and orange details. It is remarkably lightweight and perfectly suited for displaying cocktail barware, dressing a vanity table, or being hung as a decorative piece of vintage wall art.
The reverse features the signature lightweight, unlacquered wood composition typical of mid-century Tuscan workshops.

Condition Report:
This tray is in good vintage structural condition, possessing a wonderful, authentic aged character. As a genuine pre-owned mid-century piece, the finish exhibits honest signs of age and wear, including localized areas where the white gesso plaster base shows through the gold leaf and paint layers, particularly along the raised scalloped edges and ridges. This wear enhances its genuine vintage appeal and gives it a highly sought-after, time-worn patina. Please review the detailed photographs to fully appreciate its condition and finish.

Provenance:
Sourced at Sunbury Antiques Market.

https://aniceoldthing.com/products/vintage-italian-florentine-round-serving-tray-mid-century-gold-gilt-orange-salver
