vintage-georgian-style-heavy-cast-brass-candlesticks-a-pair
Vintage Georgian-Style Heavy Cast Brass Candlesticks - A Pair

There is an immense domestic reassurance in a heavy piece of turned British brassware. Unlike modern, hollow replicas that lean precariously at the first hint of a breeze, these solid, mid-century Georgian-style candlesticks are weighted to stay exactly where they are placed. Featuring classic baluster columns rising from tiered, canted square bases, they carry a pleasingly architecture-focused silhouette. They have been gently buffed to clear away decades of dull kitchen grease while intentionally preserving the deeper, dark oxidation inside the turnings—the exact sort of contrast that rewards closer inspection by candlelight.

Honest Anatomy

This is a closely matched pair standing precisely 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) tall, with stable square bases measuring 8.5 cm across. These are heavy, thick-walled cast brass pieces, not thin sheet-metal pressings. The undersides reveal a characteristically rough, sand-cast texture. The central threaded iron rods that secure the columns to the bases had loosened over time, introducing a slight wobble; these have now been mechanically tightened and are completely rigid and square. Expect entirely ordinary micro-scratching from historic polishing, small scattered flecks of residual wax in the sockets, and typical minor casting pits from production. They sit perfectly level and are entirely ready for standard taper candles.

Specifications & Keywords

• Material: Solid Cast Brass
• Style: Georgian Baluster Revival
• Era: Circa 1940–1950
• Quantity: One matching pair
• Dimensions: 16.5 cm height x 8.5 cm base width
