Originally designed as a "waiter" or card tray to receive visiting cards in an Edwardian hallway, this small, shallow silver-plated dish has spent the last century finding new ways to be useful.
Turned out by the Sheffield silversmiths Cooper Brothers, the tray features a classic beaded border framing a wide, elegantly chased band of Victorian floral and fern foliage. The underside bears the firm’s distinctive hallmark: a tiny, crisp stamp of a cooper working on a barrel.
While it has retired from formal Victorian parlor duties, its shallow 7-inch diameter makes it a thoroughly civilized modern home for your car keys on a hallway console, daily jewelry on a dressing table, or loose coins on a desk. It carries an honest, lightly aged patina with minor surface micro-scuffs from decades of domestic utility—just enough history to give it genuine character without looking tired.

Historical Details & Maker

• The Maker: Cooper Brothers, Sheffield, England (C Bros S).
• The Mark: Features the firm's traditional "cooper and barrel" pictorial stamp.
• Material: Electro-Plated Nickel Silver (EPNS), Pattern No. 1233.
• Era: Late Victorian / Edwardian (c. 1890–1910).

Condition & Specifications

• Dimensions: Diameter of 7 inches (approx. 18 cm).
• Condition: Good antique condition.
